Sally Finning

Playful, minimalistic, elegant and sophisticated – that’s how I see Sally’s work. Her works involve printmaking, collage, painting and ‚digital‘ art. I really enjoy her collages and landscape works. Without a doubt, there’s a strong beautiful art signature and very fine and neat visual concept of the images in her artwork. I can imagine these prints in furniture or interior design, as well as on products of everyday use.

Karen Butti

Karen Butti works with both hand and machine embroidery combining it with drawings, different types of paper, stitched and painted images, garments and letters. All of this explores mixed media textiles and graphic arts in the same time. She said, she usually begins with some sort of idea or narrative what leads her to create a dialogue with the different techniques of arts she uses in her artwork. I got captivated by the vibrant pastel colours she has used here.

When thinking about designing a book or dummies, it might be possible to create a full decorated page by this various technique put together as an embroidery. Images, collages or some objects might me also incorporated in such a stitched work.

Sammy Slabbinck

Belgian genius of surreal collages (with up-to-date messages!)

His humour is gifted and the way he understands and then visualise his collages is mind-blowing. I was searching for contemporary collages that would help me to figure out how I can incorporate a deeper meaning into my collages and shaking the audience with its clear and ‚mind-blowing‘ message.

Slabbinck’s work is a huge inspiration for me; not only the ideas of collages, but the collages themselves are beautifully elaborated art works. Another thing to mention is the way he uses the scale and form and how the objects smoothly communicate between each other. Some of the materials are of vintage style, some are contemporary

with muted, blurry, old style tones or the complete opposite – bright and rich colours bashed straight into your face. These collages include photographs, prints, old advertisements, iconic vintage style material, but their messages are very contemporary. Without a doubt, this kind of collages has a great potential in the up-to-date artist’s revolts referring to any cultural, political or social issues of nowadays.
